Peking, July 18, 1907. WITH reference to my telegram No. 135 of the 10th instant on the subject of an Opium Commission, I have the honour to inform you that I have been asked by my American colleague to support him in eliciting from the Chinese Government some more satisfactory statement.
An opportunity of doing so, if you approve such a course, might be found when the instructions mentioned in your telegram No. 67 of the 14th ultimo are being carried out.
